The Unorganized Repair Sector
Many industries these days helping the country develop. The Repair Industry has now become one of them since we have come into the digital age. It already had several branches like camera repair, AC repair, washing machine repair etc. but now it also involves mobile and laptop repairs. There are over 4 million Indians who work hard to keep our gadgets, appliances and other critical infrastructure to work smoothly. Repairs make products last longer, makes faulty pieces ready to use, saves money and also creates local jobs opportunities. A technician saves your product from failing and contributes to decrease the rate of electrical garbage that adds to environmental damage.
Technicians play an important role in the industry, but unfortunately in India, this sector is very unorganized. Repair technicians are in abundance in India. Not only will you have many recruited in authorized service centers but you will also find many who are working as freelancers and some working in smaller shops. The problem is that for a customer, there ends up being little or no loyalty when it comes to servicing. Customers get inside the shop that they see first. When a technician becomes tired of seeing no customer around, he gives up his own shop that he already found difficult to afford and rents another which he believes might be in an area with more people. This may or may not solve the problem. Another reason that the sector is unorganized is that, nobody does it all. There is no one stop solution for any kind of repair. Laptops and mobiles get clubbed together when it comes to repair, but then again it depends on which laptop the customer has and where the service centre of that particular brand is. Since repair in service centers that are authorized gets too expensive sometimes, the customer turns towards the regular repair and service centre’s. These service centre’s might not always have the parts that the customer needs for damage control and since there is no connection to other service centre’s, the customer is most of the time stuck with fake parts that only temporarily solve the problem and cause issues in the long run. Because of all these reasons, most of the times, customers prefer buying over repair inspire of the added cost.
Technicians find it hard to stick to one place because of all the above reasons. Sometimes even skilled technicians might find themselves without a job. People don’t even find jobs on online job portals because the concept of finding a repair technician online still doesn’t exist. Which is why, the need of the hour is to have a job portal that is purely for these repair technicians of any sort. Through this portal employers can find for a repair technician without looking too far and all kinds of technicians are connected through one common platform. Because of these easy networking, it will be easier to find parts, easier to find solutions to certain repair problems, and of course easier to find jobs.
